Setup Elastic Load Balancing(ELB) in Amazon Web Services(AWS)

Quickly set up Amazon ELB(Elastic Load Balancing)

Amazon Web Services provides the facility of balancing and distributing the traffic equally on all the instances through ELB.Many instances are connected in ELB with one route.

Go To AWS Console.
Click on Load Balancer.

Define Load Balancer
1).   Click on “Create Load Balancer” in AWS Console.

2.a). Write the Load Balancer name.
2.b). EC2-Classic — Instances launched in EC2-Classic run in a flat network that you share with other customers.
EC2-VPC — Instances launched in EC2-VPC run in an virtual private cloud (VPC) that is logically isolated in your AWS account.
2.c). Listener configuration:Enter the port you want to pass through your listener.
Select EC2 .
Click On CONTINUE.

Configure Health Check
1). Configuration Options:
1.a). Ping Protocol: Select HTTP for Port(80).
1.b). Port Ping : Write 80(HTTP).
1.c). Ping Path : It will take automatically(/index.html).

2.) Advanced Options:
2.a). Response Timeout: Time to wait when receiving a response from the health check* (2 sec – 60 sec).
* Health Check checks the instance for any issues with instance.If the instance is healthy the status is In Service. else status is  Out of Service
2.b). Health Check Interval : Every interval instance health is checked. Example – If it is set to 1 min then in every one minute the instance is checked automatically by the system.
2.c). Unhealthy Threshold : Number of consecutive health checks before a instance goes out of service.
2.d). Healthy Threshold : Number of consecutive health check successes before declaring an EC2 instance healthy.

Click On CONTINUE.

Add EC2 instances:
Manually Add Instances to Load Balancer: You can manually add the instances in load balancer by selecting the CheckBox.
Click On CONTINUE.

You can have a brief look to your configuration of ELB.
Click on CREATE.
